There are a 363,987 single family lots (2016) in Metro Vancouver.

If ONLY we amalgamate 5% of these lots we will, with our design, create 363,987 new modestly scaled modular residential units. In effect we utilized 18,199 lots to create 363, 987 mixed single bedroom units (one modular) and 2-bedroom units (2 modular).

The net result is amazing!

We surely can solve our housing crises. That is not all, we also will solve our affordable housing crises.

The calculated cost of each of the single bedroom unit (one modular) is 150,000 while the cost of the 2 bedrooms (2 modular) units is only $220,000.

The design focuses on making the families occupy only the space they need. This space can change, expands, or shrinks, with the changing size of the family through its life cycle. Three types of units differ in size by adding more modular cells (20’x20’) to the unit.

The design is making maximum use of the space while providing private entrances, garden view, and several social/gathering spaces including a porch where everyone can say “Hello” to my neighbour!

.

Just think how many families can afford buying or renting a unit if this idea implemented.

Would that be a transformational moment for Vancouver residents?
