Living organisms are always flexible in their form and positions. Living processes are difficult to interpret because they are non-linear dynamic phenomena. “Everything that is static is condemned to death; nothing that lives can exist without transformation” (Nio, Suybroek, 2009).
The living processes are very interesting yet challenging for the architects’ minds. A continuous endeavour is made to create an Architecture that functions like biology.
Biological forms and systems are seen in the evolutionary processes. Biology uses natural renewable resources for processing.
David Fisher in his vision for Dubai Tower is creating what he calls a four-dimensional building. A living structure with a plumbing system that moves all around.
This building is smart enough to generate its own energy and supply other surrounding buildings. It works as a small power station with 77 wind turbines positioned horizontally between floors.
All the units are built in a factory around a cylindrical concrete core. They are able to move and rotate.
No predetermined form for this building.
Form follows the changeable needs, which are the internal (the users) and external (the environmental).
The core faith for modernism in architecture is “form follows function”, but the function is not static!
This building constantly changes to follow function.
